Sonic MythBusters

I've been slow to join the MythBusters bandwagon, but have finally been enjoying some episodes on the DVR. Mostly because I can check out that Kari chick that everyone on teh intarweb [sic] talks about.

But what I don't understand is why they run ads for Sonic during the show. Yes, I usually skip over the commercials but right now they're running an ad for their sweet sweet slushies. When I looked at the Sonic locator, the closest on is in Tracy, CA! That's too far!

I'm just glad I'm not a pregnant woman, or I'd be doing late-night 2 hour drives for the sweet sweet slushies. Anyone up for a roadtrip? We could get tater tots too.

Side note- Kari looks like she has new tats, so she's off any good list I would have.

I was getting all excited and thinking I could "outsuck" you, because I believed there was not a Sonic within 150 miles. Turns out they just built one about 15 miles from here. Still, seems like a long drive to go for a cherry limeade.

Incidentally, I noticed they showed the same ads when I was in Minnesota. The closest Sonic is about 200 miles away in Iowa. The same thing happened watching TV when I used to live in Chicago and the closest Sonic was in St. Louis (now it's in Champaign).

Yay for national level advertising. Usually in cases like that, a company buys a national slot that can be optionally overridden at the local level if there isn't a location nearby.

everyone has this problem. no one (except patrick) lives near a sonic and is forced to watch commercials on discovery. this is the second conversation/bitchfest on this subject this year.

not blank
I rode in truck for 14 hours with two guys the way to a track day in Alabama. One was a stockboroker and the other was a major vendor for Sonic kithcen eqipment. The vendor guy stated that the national ads were intentional to build recognition and demand in new areas. It works. All of the good franchise regions are bought and new stores are doing gangbuster biz when they open. Yes, that was a pretty tedious trip. I can't imagine why you would ask.

Been there, had that
Tonya and I are pretty close to Tracy and have been to the Sonic. The slush thing I got burned my throat. I think they lace it with fiberglass. BTW Mythbusters jumped the shark (shoot me) a while ago.

I agree with the Jumping the shark comment. (the shows past it's peak part, not the shooting him part)

Road trip
Same offer for a road trip goes for anybody in the DC area. 51.35 miles. Fredericksburg VA, which is like a dagger in the heart considering the Sonic I always went to in San Antonio was on Fredericksburg.

Sonic....ugh I drive though Tracy more than I care to admit. As for Kari...she seems hot on the show and not on the Wiki....is that normal? Perhaps I have flat screen goggles on?

i think marc should wait 30 minutes before he posts a comment from now on and probably cut back on the caffeine as well. i also think we all know kenneth well enough to know that if he's watching a show, it is not for its content...it's for a chick. so all those shark jumping comments were pointless. kari's still 'tv hot'.

Angie, for shame. You make me sound so shallow. I watch a lot of shows for content. I just can't think of any.

Also, Mythbusters would be more watchable if the two hosts had an alibi - THEY UGLY. No network would ever give two women that ugly (Food Network excepted) their own show. I hate to be all Miranda Priestley/Devil Wears Prada, but can't they find some scientists/madmen who aren't so deeply unattractive? Is that too much to ask? How's that for shallow?
