DVD Roundup 8/16
A sad DVD Roundup. . .
I just realized I hadn't written about and dvd rentals recently- or at least, what amounts to my writing. I just took a look at my rental history in Netflix and realized that I've slowed dramatically in my dvd viewing. I know I was busy with the move and some visitors, but not that busy. But I think I know what the main cause of the slowdown is-- cable tv.Yup, I think I've fallen into the timesuck of getting used to Comcast and even more into having a DVR and shows recorded. Add On-demand to that mix and it's even a bigger mess. In fact, last night I was going to finish watching The New World but wound up watching Sharkman on Discovery (via On Demand) because Kevin had told me to check out the craziness called Tonic Immobility over lunch yesterday. Anyway, due to all that malarky, I only have one movie blurb for you: Night Watch - *** Night Watch is a Russian movie about two groups of "others" trying to keep their underworld in balance in Moscow. As you can imagine there are the light ones and the dark ones yadda yadda, eternal struggle, humans in the middle oh, and of course the dark ones include vampires, the day ones are shape shifting wizards n crap. Despite the cliches, the movie actually works (for me)- the main plot involves some of the Day Watch crew trying to lift a curse, finding a boy and a prophecy about both the curse and the kid and them avoiding that prophecy. I liked it- some of you may not as it has subtitles, but it's a fun trip in that genre. . . .RT link For better movie writing, check out Bright Lights Film.
