Frontline - Tank
Did any of you catch Frontline last night. I only saw part of it because I forgot it was on. You see- they moved Veronica to Tuesdays to put the nail in the coffin on that shit-show "The Unit" (which sucked again last night, but that's a separate rant. Not even Colm Meaney could save The Unit. . . ).
Anyway, it was The Tank Man episode. Quite riveting.. . One of the weird parts though was when they showed the congressional hearings with Microsoft, Google, Yahoo and Cisco. They were speaking about censorship and collaborating with the host countries's .govs. Granted- this wasn't specifically about Tank Man at this point, but the side discussion of Chinese censorship and media control, but I was fascinated with the story of the Chinese journalist recently sentenced to 10 years of prison and the congressional hearing that followed. They showed the clip of Rep Chris Smith asking/comparing what Yahoo! did to . . . I'm rambling, I need to find the actual quote. . . (what follows isn't from the hearing, but from a different interview)SMITH: If the Nazi`s half a century ago were knocking on doors and saying, "where`s Ann Frank? We want to find Ann Frank." And people were staying, "she`s upstairs, why don`t you just go up and arrest her?" That`s exactly what we`re doing in a very sophisticated way, we being these U.S. corporations.Put in that context, that's pretty harsh. Granted, knowing congress, they'll try to restrict our business in China, which I don't agree with (as a psuedo-libertarian) - but I do agree that we shouldn't be handing over data to other .govs. Wow, what an incoherent and rambling post. I really should edit this later. But, I'm about to go back to work, and I don't have the same "freedoms" that Marc does ;) . You know what else stuck with me about that episode? None of the younger chinese knew about the tank man or what the picture of him was from. Scary.

Basically, I heard blah-Veronica-blah-shit-show "The Unit"-blahhhhhhhhhhhh...
Now the UNIT! may not be the best show on TV, and it may not be around long, I ain't buying that Veronica Mars moving to Tuesday is the death knell. What channel's it on? UPN/CW? I watched the UNIT first, since it's in High Def. My TV gets mad at Veronica in Low Res...
